Endurance, Character, Hope

If there were no difficulties in life there would be no success; if there were nothing to struggle for, there would be nothing to be achieved.

It’s only when we choose to face what ails us and not run away from our troubles, is when we lead a life with Purpose.

Consider this provocative point of wisdom from Samuel Smiles “The battle of life is, in most cases, fought uphill; and to win it without a struggle were perhaps to win it without honour.”

I struggled a lot with facing my difficulties, let alone see the opportunity in them. As much as I wanted to face them, I would find myself running from whatever caused me discomfort, pain & difficulty.

This meant I was at the mercy of my fears. As the result, my life was heading towards disaster. I let my difficulties reside with me for so long that it eventually created a false sense of imprisonment and impacted the relationships around me.

I had to change my life or it was going to change me for the worse. I began writing my problems down and learning ways to defeat them - I looked within myself and identified the areas of my life where I lacked discipline or had formed very poor habits in. Each day I commit to tackling my challenges, my fears, my anxiety and what causes me pain - I present them to God and seek His guidance to lead me through them by the power of the Holy Spirit.

A good friend gave me a great advice once that I am going to tell you “It’s just as important to have difficulties in life to keep you away from things that are not meant for you, as it is to have opportunities to pull you toward your dreams, where you want to go”.

So don’t be afraid and start facing your difficulties, start believing in yourself and your abilities. Rise up to the challenge, because if you don’t, no one else will!
