Choose to seek JOY on a daily basis, as very seldom will Peace & Hope subsist in the absence of Joy.
Happiness is temporary and relies solely on circumstances, such as events and entertainments; however, Joy is within, it does not change because of the circumstances, it remains constant and often time is the byproduct of peace within.
The Apostle Paul was a great advocate of Joy as evident in all his letters to the Churches. What makes his letters valid is his circumstances & living condition when he was writing these instructions; which can be found in his letter to the Corinthians [2 Corin 11:25-30]. In other words, he practiced what he preached.
In the letter to the believers in Rome, he encourages them to put their hope in God, who will fill them with Joy and Peace, so in return, they may overflow with Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit [Rom 15:13].
To the letter to the Philippians, Apostle Paul tells the them to “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His Peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. [Phil 4:6-7].
From experience this type of JOY is not in the absence of trials & struggles, but through it; Life hasn’t gotten easier, but I have a sense of hope, as if the mountain of my pains & troubles have been lifted off my shoulders. I can now see and enjoy Life and the beauty of nature all around me, no longer bogged down by problems.
So everyday, I choose to be Joyful regardless of the circumstances… learning to Think about things that are noble, to Thank God for my daily bread and Pray continuously that I may be led through the temptations that I am too weak to overcome alone.
