What you do daily determines what you become permanently

One of the main reasons why we change our habits is simply to become the better version of ourselves, at least in my opinion.

But, if we are not clear on what the ‘better version’ will look like, what then are we really aiming to change? What is the ultimate purpose of the change?

In other words, if I want to change a habit for the better, I have to have a good reason to want the change and make it part of my lifestyle.

This is what I have been thinking about and working on the past few weeks. When I fixate on what I need to DO, I am limiting the possibility of the purpose the habit will serve. But if I shift my focus on who I want to BECOME, I have a reason for changing.

In the past, I always struggled trying to change my habits, partly because I enjoyed some of the guilty pleasures so even though I knew they were toxic, I didn’t find any urgency to want to change; and other reason is because of the work involved to change the routine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But, now I am noticing that when I work on ‘who I want to become’ instead of just ‘what I need to do’, those habits that were once holding me back, are now slowly being replaced by routines that are helping ‘become’ the better version of myself.

The thing to remember is that who we are drives what we do, not the other way around.

When you strive to become better than you are, everything around you becomes better too.
