Remaining calm in difficult situation is so important to making wise, rational decisions. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control.

Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.

When I allow my emotions get the better part of me, I make irrational, unwise decisions that are fueled by arrogance and anger that seem to always carry heavy consequences with it. However, once the emotions have died down, I am filled with regret of the things I did or said that I could have probably handled better.

This is why having control of your emotions is very important to making daily decisions and relationships around you. In support of this, the ancient Bible script says "whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city"

When I am faced with discomfort, my instinct is not to avoid it, but to become at peace with it.

James Allen in his book 'As a Man Thinketh' aptly puts it: The calm man, having learned how to govern himself, knows how to adapt himself to others; and they, in turn, reverence his spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn of him and rely upon him. The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good.

Thoughts are the language of the brain.

Feelings are the language of the body.
