New Year, New You

For many people, the first day of the new year becomes the traditional occasion for thinking about one’s past mistakes and resolving to do and be better in the future.

Statistics show 80% of the resolutions fail by mid-February, why? I personally believe it’s because it’s emotionally driven without careful planning and the habit/discipline building aspect. I am guilty of this myself.

Last night, I was looking through my 2018 and 2019 journal and realized the goals I’m aiming for this year, are the same ones I made in the previous years.

Where is the flaw? My plan.! The gospel of Luke illustrates this well when he writes, “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?”

I think this applies to all area of life, without careful planning, all the goals we set will just end up on our wish list.

But planning alone is not enough, what I have learned throughout 2019 is action has to accompany planning.

I call it the G.P.A. of life = Goals + Plan + Action.

As we enter a new decade, I pray may God give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed, as you take the first step towards the right direction.

New Year, New You!
